I finally managed to activate my 13 cm setup (during the expedition to Monaco), and after repairing my portable dish, rotator, and replacing the amplifier, I’m now ready for new trips!
I have a temporary license from the Finnish regulator to operate on 23 cm from the Åland Islands in 2025, so I decided to go there for a few days.
Here’s the plan:
? August 14 (Thursday) – 23 cm band
I’ll be active around 19:30 UTC at my moonrise, and will stay on as long as there’s activity. Then I’ll get some sleep and return in the morning around 06:00 UTC, operating until moonset at ~12:00 UTC.
? August 15 (Friday) – 23 cm band
Moonrise at 19:30 UTC; after a couple of hours I’ll switch to 13 cm for the start of the contest.
? August 16 (Saturday) – 13 cm band, and if there’s little activity, I’ll switch back to 23 cm.
? August 17 & 18 – Reserve days in case something breaks or the weather doesn’t cooperate.
? August 19 (Tuesday) – I’ll drive to Latvia, and will be active on 13 cm at my moonrise as YL/EA8DBM.
? August 20 (Wednesday) – 13 cm in the morning, then in the afternoon I’ll pack up and head to Lithuania, where I might be sporadically active for a week as LY3UM on 23 and 13 cm, upon request.
